Business Analyst

Job Description

The Business Analyst is responsible for collecting, processing, and analyzing urban, social, and civic data. This role is designed to support a deeper understanding of urban challenges, promote data-driven policymaking, and provide research support for the institute's think tank projects and educational programs. The primary focus of this position is the ethical, social, and development-oriented analysis of urban data.

Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and prepare urban and social data from various sources.

• Analyze data to identify patterns, trends, and key issues related to cities and urban life.

• Produce analytical reports, dashboards, and decision-ready insights for researchers and policymakers.

• Collaborate with the think tank team on research projects and policy reports.

• Analyze data related to urban quality of life, citizen participation, and sustainable development.

• Ensure compliance with data ethics, privacy principles, and responsible data practices.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of data analysis concepts and applied statistics.

• Experience with data analysis tools such as Python (Pandas, NumPy) or R.

• Familiarity with databases and SQL.

• Ability to analyze and interpret urban and social datasets.

• Strong analytical reporting and documentation skills.

• Knowledge of smart city concepts, open data, and geospatial data.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with geospatial data analysis tools such as GIS, QGIS, or ArcGIS.

• Experience designing analytical dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or open-source alternatives.

• Understanding of public policy analysis and data-driven decision-making.

• Knowledge of data ethics, privacy, and responsible data governance.

• Ability to work collaboratively with social science researchers and civic organizations.

• Familiarity with sustainable development indicators and urban quality-of-life metrics.
